The Book of Job

Director : Adam Lee

To this day, the definitive interpretation of the Book of Job remains elusive. This project is a factional documentary that invites you to hear Job’s raw, living testimony. Yet, the unbelievable words from his lips will ultimately become the Truth that weaves the entire Scripture into one.

For I know that my redeemer lives, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth

Overview

"If God permits a righteous man's ruin, is He still Good?"

It is a question that anyone who reads the Book of Job will eventually ask. Why did God allow Satan to inflict such suffering on Job? And what did Job do so wrong that he had to be so utterly abandoned by God? Most theologians say that Job's suffering is the "ultimate destination" for all believers. But what does Job himself, the one who actually lived it, have to say? I want to hear God’s true intent and the vivid, firsthand experience directly from Job’s own mouth. And in turn, I find myself asking a question: "Could I live like Job?" The true purpose of this project is the true purpose of the Book of Job itself.

Project Scope: Solo Production

Approach

Theological & Technical Mathodology

1. Scriptwriting: Absolute Fidelity to the Word Based on orthodox Reformed theology, I utilize contextual interpretation to draft the script. My absolute priority is to preserve the essential meaning of God’s Word without ever diluting, altering, adding to, or removing a single part. The integrity of the Scripture remains untouched throughout the writing process. 2. Narrative: Emotional Connection and Typology The project moves beyond a simple recitation of Scripture. I connect the Word with deep human emotion to reenact the historical context of the time. The story is structured through the lens of Typology, guiding the audience toward a powerful and moving conclusion that reveals the redemptive truth. 3. Production: Virtual Workflow and Spiritual Integrity As a solo filmmaker, I implement a cost-efficient Virtual Production pipeline using Unreal Engine 5 and Vive Mars. The production is grounded in spiritual discipline; all actors are Christians who engage in prayer and worship throughout the filming process. In the absence of live actors, MetaHumans are utilized as a viable and strategic alternative.
